“The Beatles are the only reason I started recording” says 23 years old multi-instrumentalist and a leader of Modern Nomad, Tom McLean
McLean started writing and recording his own music after becoming inspired by the jangly psychedelic pop sounds of The Beatles, and deep atmospheric grooves of the likes of Tame Impala and Toro Y Moi. In 2013 at just 16 years old, The Baltimore native began recording dreamy sun-soaked indie-pop songs in his bedroom and started putting them online.
His 2015 debut release, Road Trip generated some buzz with the press. POND Magazine stated Modern Nomad “Flirts with brilliance”. Today McLean brings more music and announces his forthcoming EP Bardo with a new single Hang On.
With Hang On he takes us for a dreamy ride to the seaside and as we’re all waiting for the Spring to finally arrive, the verse “Hello, it’s been a long time, feeling like I need to see sunshine” accurately reflect our current moods.
