OpenCall Discovers Music: Foxtails Brigade

Gimme A Sign by Foxtails Brigade

It doesn’t happen very often that we have the pleasure to listen to such amazing vocals in the song. They’re powerful, feminine, and unique. The song holds a secret and we want to unlock it.

Who is this magical singing creature then… Laura Weinbach is the Hollywood Hills-born daughter of a horror filmmaker and sister of a cult comedian. Her next-door neighbours were circus contortionists with emus and fang-toothed monkeys as pets and her childhood activities included snail hunting and spying on celebrity neighbours like Slash, Ice-T, and Larry from Perfect Strangers. Sounds like a pretty amazing childhood.

Laura Weinbach is a definite leader but Foxtails Brigade is a four-piece band. Their artistic output is collected on three albums:  2011 debut album The Bread and the Bait (Antenna Farm Records), LP Time Is Passed (DIY), self-titled album in April 2016 on OIM Records.

Three months ago Foxtails Brigade started regular monthly single releases. So far we’ve received ‘Slave’ a bit more aggressive piece, ‘Hurry Up, John’ chilled, layered up lyrical male-female vocals song, and ‘Gimmie A Sign’ we’re talking about today.

Foxtails Brigade is a real discovery for us. Pure talent bringing their own music genre to the world. That’s what we love.
