Trails and Ways return with “Young,” a reflective step into a new chapter

Trails and Ways share their new single Young, offering a first glimpse into their upcoming album Open Water. Rooted in their signature blend of indie pop and bossa nova influences, the track introduces a more reflective and grounded phase for the band.

Written from a place of quiet introspection, Young began with a simple moment. A lone guitar, an insistent rhythm and a need to process themes of commitment and growing up.

The song marks the return of Emma as a lead vocalist for the first time since the band’s 2015 album Pathology. Her voice brings a sense of warmth and familiarity, while also reflecting the distance and growth that has happened in the years since.

Since the release of Pathology, the members of Trails and Ways have moved through significant life changes, including completing degrees, starting families and stepping into a more mature stage of both life and creativity. That shift is reflected in Young, which feels less like a statement and more like a continuation, a natural progression into what comes next.

With Open Water on the horizon, Young sets the tone for a record that embraces growth without losing the band’s core identity, capturing the quiet transition from youth into something more settled.
