Packaging channel restless euphoria on new single “In Your Pocket”

Don’t be fooled by the name: while Packaging might suggest a wry critique of the industry machine, the duo of Daniel Lyon (Spirit Award) and Daniel “Connor” Birch (Flaural) are anything but cynical in their craft. Their music thrives on passion and friction, a vivid meeting point of krautrock propulsion, psychedelic sprawl, electronic shimmer, and sharp-edged pop sensibilities.

Their latest track, “In Your Pocket” distills that alchemy into a tightly wound rush. It’s a song that pulses with forward momentum – urgent basslines and hypnotic rhythms tumbling into kaleidoscopic textures – while carrying the weight of themes that have defined the band’s forthcoming debut: disconnection, ennui, and the endless search for grounding in a world built on flux.

The single lands as part of Packaging, the duo’s first full-length, a suite of songs that move between ecstatic propulsion and intimate reflection. Contributions from Luke Temple (Here We Go Magic), Ash Reiter (Sugar Candy Mountain), James Barone (Beach House), and Andy Rauworth (Gauntlet Hair) only deepen the record’s sonic palette, but at its core, it’s Lyon and Birch pushing each other to emotional extremes. From the breathless “Running Through the Airport” to the quietly bruised “On Holiday,” their music captures the contradictions of modern existence: restless but searching, euphoric yet heavy with longing.

“In Your Pocket” sits at the heart of that mission – tactile, insistent, and shimmering with urgency. It’s not just a song you listen to; it’s something you carry with you.
