POESY is the young Canadian artist, otherwise known as Sarah Botelho was discovered in 2018 after she appeared on the first season of popular Canadian music competition show – THE LAUNCH. Today we are discovering her new release ‘Diamonds’. Incredibly powerful, raw, glistening pop-rock anthem. The song’s narrative is influenced by POESY’s self-confessed fascination with time and that nothing lasts forever.
“Diamonds is at its core, a song about experiencing a dark time and trying to drag yourself through to the other side. It’s about the pressure you put on yourself that leaves you with dark inner turmoil. I’ve dragged myself out of that countless times so I hope Diamonds can do that for someone else. I called it Diamonds because they’re a substance that is made under huge amounts of pressure, but they’re also so valuable – just like we are. So be gentle with yourself…”
POESY is quickly rising to her rightful place as one Canada’s most exciting, emerging musicians. She takes her influences from artists such as Kate Bush, Freddie Mercury, as well as 90s alternative rock queens PJ Harvey, Tori Amos, and Alanis Morissette. Personally we would also add Florence Welch to the list.
POESY is definitely a diamond in the emerging artists pool and we can’t wait to hear more from her.
