Influenced by indie and dream pop sounds Hamburg based trio Roller Derby was founded in early 2020. The three of them combine their love for chorus guitars, synth pads and twee pop vocal melodies. Their latest single ‘Whatever Works’, a melancholic, dreamy piece tells a story of a post-breakup state of mind that can trick us and make us compromise our expectations if the person we love is willing to try again.
Vocalist, Philine Meyer sings:
Whatever works, it’s good
Whatever works, it’s fine
Have it your way and don’t think twice
’Whatever Works’ is a song that almost everyone can empathize with. Who hasn’t experienced a breakup that messed with their head and left them confused… Roller Derby talks about a difficult and painful topic in a very light and simple musical manner.
