Icelandic pianist and post-classical composer Eydís Evensen releases “Dimmuborgir”, the third single from her forthcoming album—a deeply emotional piece featuring beloved Icelandic singer-songwriter Ásgeir

Evensen, known for her cinematic minimalism and poetic depth, wrote a poem the night before their recording session, inspired by the ethereal quality of Ásgeir’s voice. The track came together in under an hour, a spontaneous and moving collaboration.

Alongside the release of her haunting new single “Dimmuborgir” featuring Ásgeir, Icelandic pianist and composer Eydís Evensen unveils a visually stunning music video that elevates the track’s emotional depth to breathtaking heights.

Set against Iceland’s otherworldly landscapes, the video pairs cinematic, melancholic visuals with the song’s ethereal textures—bringing to life themes of loss, memory, and spiritual transcendence. It’s not just a music video; it’s a work of visual poetry.

Every frame feels deliberate and drenched in meaning, echoing Evensen’s message: though bodies fade, the spirit endures. A true masterpiece of sound and sight.

“Dimmuborgir” is an elegy for Evensen’s late friend, Irish musician Talos, whom she briefly taught piano. “Even though an individual has passed, you can always feel their presence,” she shares. “We never actually leave.”

Named after the mystical lava fields in Iceland, “Dimmuborgir” explores themes of grief, memory, and spiritual continuity—where lost souls become eternal constellations. It’s a powerful glimpse into the emotional universe of Evensen’s upcoming album.
