Dreamwave: Widescreen Chaos with New Single “Wideshooter”

Bristol’s Dreamwave is no stranger to shaking things up. With a reputation for packing out iconic venues like Rough Trade Bristol, London’s Old Blue Last, and Shacklewell Arms, the psych-punk four-piece has become a must-see act for UK tastemakers. Whether it’s a headline set for Eat Your Own Ears or an electric performance at Glastonbury Festival, Dreamwave knows how to command a crowd.

But their magic doesn’t stop at the stage. Since the release of their debut E.P., ‘Dreamwave and the Mindcave,’ this pink-hued quartet has cemented themselves as a rising force in both local and international psych scenes. Praised by NME as „a banger,” celebrated as an „earworm” by BBC Introducing South West, and earning a solid 4/5 from Shindig, the E.P. was a mind-expanding trip into their kaleidoscopic world.

Dreamwave is kicking off 2025 with a cheeky grin and a sharp left turn. Their latest single, “Wideshooter,” sees the band dive headfirst into new-wave madness, bringing a playful energy that’s equal parts chaotic and calculated. Recorded with Dom Bailey-Clay at Nine Volt Leap, the track was a whirlwind from start to finish—dreamt up as a lyricless demo the night before the session, it came together faster than its 3-minute runtime.

And because Dreamwave loves to keep it DIY, they produced, filmed, and edited the track’s accompanying spoof-style music video entirely themselves. It’s brash, it’s bonkers, and it’s exactly the kind of offbeat fun we’ve come to expect from a band that thrives on smashing conventions.
