Crossed Wire and their 1988 song ‘Spent’ got a second life

Corey Duffel – curator of the Adored Record Club releases Spent – an iconic song that was put out in 1988 on Crossed Wire’s excellent In the Hollow album. The original song masters to both albums have been lost to time and to pull off this release they ripped the audio from their own vinyl copies of In the Hollow and Crossed Wire and had then remastered it for vinyl (again) by Lance Miler. The tracks came out incredible – rich and bright and full of the same energy that people have loved for the last 30 years.

This whole project gets a huge thank you to all of the people who made it happen and to the band members of Crossed Wire but especially to Chris Moore a Founder of Crossed Wire that designed all the album art for this release.

Crossed Wire was formed by Chris Moore and Rob McCullough, with Bud Burcar and Kurt Marschke in the summer of 1985. The band released 2 EPs, 1 LP, a 7-inch single, and 2 full-length CDs garnering positive reviews and a dedicated fan base by combining tight dynamic live shows with strong songcraft and colourful musicianship. The line-up would change over the years to include Gary Watts, Cary Marsh and Matt O’Brien to further expand the boundaries of their sonic palette which explored edgy, jangle pop, roots rock, and post-punk. The band amicably called it quits in 1996 after Moore decided to relocate to New York to pursue a solo career in music and dedicate time to his artwork.
